Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal suffer heavy defeat by Holland

Rajasthan Royals choose Ajinkye Rahane over Steve Smith as their Captian in IPL 2018

Image
In a major development, Rajasthan Royals on Monday announced  Ajinkya Rahane  as the new captain of the team, sacking  Steve Smith , who has been engaged in a  ball-tampering controversy . Rahane, one of the most established players in world cricket, has replaced the Australian right-hander as the skipper ahead of the 11th edition of the cash-rich tournament. The move comes a day after Smith had to step down from the captaincy role of the Australian cricket team, after admitting to ball-tampering. Smith was the only player retained by the Royals ahead of IPL 2018 auctions. Rahane, who has been a key player for Rajasthan Royals over the years, was brought back through a Right To Match (RTM) card for Rs 4 crores.  Steve believes given the current circumstances “it’s in the best interest of the Rajasthan Royals that he steps down as Captain so the team can get ready for the start of the IPL without the ongoing distractions.” He would like to extend his gratitude to the BCCI official

PORTUGAL VS EGYPT A DEADLY COMEBACK TO LEAD PORTUGAL TO WIN BY 2-1

Image
ZURICH, Switzerland -- There was a moment just before the opening whistle when Cristiano Ronaldo stood near the center of the pitch, staring straight ahead, into the back of Mohamed Salah. It was not hard to imagine Ronaldo's thoughts, but perhaps only he could see them translated into such clear reality. Ronaldo headed home two goals in four minutes of extra time to give Portugal a 2-1 win over Egypt on Friday. After 90 minutes, such an outcome seemed, to the 20,000 fans in Letzigrund Stadium, unlikely at best. They should have known better. Ronaldo had made his intentions plain from the instant he had plotted the game's course in Salah's turned back. It felt a little strange, like some accident of circumstance, that two of the best goal scorers on the planet -- the two highest scorers across all competitions in Europe's top five leagues -- would face each other in a friendly on a cold, dimly lit night in Zurich. There is almost daily speculation that the ascen

Manchester United to launch women’s team

Image
Manchester United  are finally set to have a Women’s Super League team after the club applied to the Football Association to join. United are rare among the established forces of the domestic men’s game in not having a women’s side. Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool all have teams with United until now resisting calls for it to join them. In January Phil Neville, the England women national team coach and former United defender, stated he would be “urging them” to do so. “The Manchester United women’s team must be built in the same image and with the same principles as the men’s first team and offer academy players a clear route to top-level football within the club.” A statement from United added: “If successful, the move would provide a career pathway for players who graduate from the long-established and highly successful girls’ regional talent club which has seen some 15 of its graduates playing international football this season alone. The squad would be based
