In a major development, Rajasthan Royals on Monday announced  Ajinkya Rahane  as the new captain of the team, sacking  Steve Smith , who has been engaged in a  ball-tampering controversy . Rahane, one of the most established players in world cricket, has replaced the Australian right-hander as the skipper ahead of the 11th edition of the cash-rich tournament. The move comes a day after Smith had to step down from the captaincy role of the Australian cricket team, after admitting to ball-tampering. Even though his batting abilities are second to none in today’s day and age, Virat Kohli has decided to go the extra yard to prepare for the upcoming England tour after the IPL. The Indian captain has opted for a short county stint after the IPL to help prepare for the Test series which begins on August 1, the Times of India have reported.  Kohli, who will turn out for Surrey in June and play his home games at the historic Kia Oval in London will be the first Indian to join their roster. Manchester United  are finally set to have a Women’s Super League team after the club applied to the Football Association to join. United are rare among the established forces of the domestic men’s game in not having a women’s side. Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool all have teams with United until now resisting calls for it to join them.
